      the odd thing is that often when something is presented as self-evidently worthy of mockery, the people doing the mocking have different, conflicting theories in mind for why it's worthy of mockery. which means it ain't really self-evident!

      Yeah I don't think it's worthy of mockery on its own, physicalism is a view worth serious consideration! It just bums me out to see it represented by people who are clearly not steeped in this debate.
