Lol when I was 16 I was EXTREMELY passionate about lowering the right to vote because I was probably too politically aware
Voting rights are fundamentally not competency based, this is why we eliminated intelligence tests as a precondition for voting. The only ideologically consistent position is that we should have no voting age whatsoever

there is some science in frontal lobe development etc. that I think you could use. it does seem wildly inconsistent that you can drive at 16, vote and join the military and smoke at 18, drink at 21, etc.

Sure of course, but my point is more generally that voting rights are either competency based or they aren't And if voting isn't competency based there is no good reason that we should close out anyone from political participation on the basis of their brain development
