how so? id understand the primary/driving force behind that to be ‘x is harmful/widespread/needs to stop immediately’ rather than ‘your peers will think less of you for x’. also is that the best equivalent behavior in this situation?

smthg like climate change mitigation seems a better example (knock-on/unintended effects of everyday behavior) which fwiw shame has found to be unreliable by risking causing a doubling down/justifying rather than changing. its an unreliable primary tool for changing indiv actions
