Murkowski is sui generis though, she walks on water in Alaska. She won on a write in campaign for gods sake lol, I don't think any other politician in America is seen as indispensable like she is by her constituents

Romney & Collins are in the same position. Brown in Ohio might be another good example. The AK reforms would benefit all of them immensely and open similar territory in other states.

I'll concede that maybe collins has enough genuine grassroot support to win as a write in... After all maine already has RCV and she still won. But I think if you pitch an independent Romney head to head against a generic republican mormon in Utah he would lose badly
