Hot take: "Ban cars" Is a bad slogan that misleads normies about what we transit activists actually want. It doesn't "start a conversation" because people don't have conversation with people espousing looney ideas.

The real question is whether people should be entitled to free/cheap parking, no matter where they go Keep your cars, whatever; but parking should cost literally $200/hour in city cores

I totally agree with abolishing free parking, but as someone who has tried arguing this before with normal people, it's a tough sell and there are better ways to broach the topic to normal people than saying to "abolish ____."

The big brain way to do this in NYC is to point out that we don't even let people have the same space that cars get for free, ask them what the rent would be on a parking space if you suddenly furnished it as a studio
