I highly recommend turning off all antialiasing and using a hand-hinted font like PragmataPro. Stop using 4K, switch to 1440p. Lower-res pixelated text compresses much better over remote desktop protocols

I prefer just ssh to tmux+emacs but writing java without something managing all my imports is a tedious nightmare so I gave up and used intellij

But in general, I chalk this up to total disrespect for dev time. Save $5000/year/dev on hardware yay! But invisibly lowers their productivity by 5% and you’re paying them $500k/yr

The constant distraction. Traders yelling. People waving at you to ask you a question they could have researched themselves in 5 minutes. Total inability to put together even an hour of flow state.

Just to add, I would knock off at least 50k/yr in comp expectations for a private office. The company to offer me that plus low latency work in rust will get first look.
