Polish heroes of the revolution were incredibly famous at the time, and now largely forgotten outside of Illinois! Somewhat hilariously, one reason he wasn't as famous as Pulaski despite being way more influential was because there were so many misspellings of his name that many Americans thought he was 2 or 3 guys instead of one person.
