Of course, this is not to say it should be the #1 priority--it probably shouldn't be! If I could pick a single line-item reform to make healthcare more cost efficient I would outlaw drug marketing in all forms, instant multibillion dollar cost savings

I often think aboit how if higher ed was free/affordable then doctors wouldnt have to take on such enormous amounts of debt and no one could justify paying them so much anymore

Another sad reality about medical school debt though is that residency programs / even medical school training programs provide enormous, functionally free, relatively skilled labor/productivity to rich hospitals and academic medical centers that don't pay taxes; it's all a scam!

All of that is just a result of the training being completely broken. There should be MORE doctors and providers in general if you have that much pressure on the current workforce. But of course, that would mean less power for doctors to set wages :)
