Nobody but the deepest tax avoidance nerds are going to do direct indexing lmao I couldn't even name all 500 stocks in SPX if I tried
I think betterment does it, yeah. But like on a net basis it washes out through a robo because they capture the tax savings through their own service fees

Like the only way to truly execute tax loss harvesting would be to buy the SPX one by one, and even then most average people invest in a tax advantaged account like a 401k anyway so it wouldn't make any difference

And that's on top of it being a pain in the ass to literally buy 500 individual listed equities
