Good information about the costs and chances of a risk affect what you should do about it. A lot of people already think they know what you should do about it and think any information that "reinforces" that is good information. People who love sharks make the point about cows

If you smell smoke, go check for a fire. If you're driving, take standard safety precautions and drive a car with functioning airbags etc. If you're near some cows, maybe don't try to anger them but you'll basically be fine. If you're swimming near sharks, don't act like prey.
