    at KCOU we would do "The 88 Best Songs of All Time" once a year as a countdown. had DJs write blurbs to be read out on the air. Jeff had the Mummies "Stronger Than Dirt" and turned in like a 4-page essay

    saw Jeff at the NYC Grifters reunion show a few years ago and he was as enthusiastic as ever, talking about the Boston music scene and the band he was in, the Boston Typewriter Orchestra, which I weirdly just heard played on WFMU over the weekend

    a KCOU and Columbia MO legend. spent countless hours talking music with Jeff over the counter at Whizz Records or standing next to him at Grifters or Guided by Voices or garage-rock shows. RIP

    Jeff Breeze was a lifelong champion of unheralded music, first at Mizzou where we had the singular good luck to work together on the ‘93 reunion, and for years after as a fixture in Boston music til his sudden passing on Sunday. Rest easy Jeff, and thank you friend.

    drove this refinery-heavy strip of highway again yesterday and realized it's like taking a bonus Covid test on the way to the city. "is something on fire? ahhh, still got my sense of smell."

    today I played another round of everyone's favorite game show "does that burning smell mean something's wrong with my car engine or is that just new jersey"
