@gruber @drbarnard Looking at my wife’s iPad (still running iOS 7), the order is the same: closing before opening. So it’s an old bug.

@drdrang @gruber An old bug that mattered much less when quotes were curly. I’ll submit a radar tomorrow.

@drdrang This is why I argued @gruber was wrong — not because they look better (or worse) æsthetically, but b/c you can’t tell them apart.

@drdrang Worse, there’s a history of putting them in reverse order in the keyboard UI, and I can’t tell if they’ve changed it. @gruber

@tantramar @drdrang The curling of quotes should be handled by software, not the typist.

@gruber @tantramar Generally, yes, but I needed a leading apostrophe: ’70s. The smart quotes algorithm doesn’t work for that case: ‘70s.
