And it finally happened: Talking about Al Qaeda in class tonight, and one student wanted a refresher on 9/11 because she hadn’t been born yet.

The first time one of my soldiers asked me why 9/11 was such a big deal I died a little inside.

Well, why is it such a big deal? The world would like to know.

"Most people don’t know that there was a third building WTC 7. This building literally collapsed in its own footprint and went down at freefall. This might be a coincidence but thats what i would call a controlled demolition" https://twitter.com/EMichaelJones1/status/1171923801329868800/video/1 …

Know the feeling. When I was studying the Middle East a year or two ago, 90% of my classmates were babies on 9/11 but I could remember the first Gulf War, the Iran/Iraq war and Russia/Afghanistan from when I was young. I felt old!

Remember those old guys who used to talk about Nam or even the Winter War (Finland-Soviets)? Well, sorry but that's us....I feel your pain!

I’ve learned from my students that they’re still only learning history up through the late 60s just like I did. I’m creating a class for the Fall called Political Violence since 1970 that I hope works, helps, and catches on.
