I will continue to protect the safety of all San Franciscans — residents, crime victims, public servants and those who live and work in our jails. Though I know my efforts can’t protect my own father, I hope they will save someone else’s.https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-05-06/mass-incarceration-san-francisco-coronavirus …
ok for the sake of argument let’s say you’re right. what’s the answer? because if we keep people locked up a lot of them will die of covid. this is already happening around the country. at least own the fact you value the lives of murder victims more than any ‘criminal’

we're dying out here too. testing isn't readily available outside of prison either. I do not under any circumstance think emptying the jails makes sense. Do you think people who chose to commit violent crimes deserve special treatment? Why? What about accountability and safety?

you think that these people made their choices, choices that they are solely responsible for, and so that justifies them dying from a horrible disease if it means protecting ‘us’ (law abiding ppl). It doesn’t even protect ‘us’ but is that a fair representation of your argument?

What is your definition of “a lot” of people? If they stay in jail, they receive medical services. And the fatality rate across the entire USA as a function of reported cases is approx 5%. Furthermore, preliminary antibody testing data shows a fatality rate closer to 0.1%.
