How could it *possibly* be ethical for you to disclose the name of the patient whose confidentiality was breached? And continue to use the patient's name? Sincerely, how could you think this was OK? If you received permission, it should be stated. If not, the patient should sue.

It isn't comparable and I'm not comparing the reporter to Ike. Of course Ike is The Problem. The story would be just as effective without the name-dropping. The repeated HIPPA violation is unnecessary. And it can be easily fixed with some editing.

1/2 OK, it's a fair point. I found it helpful to hear the name of an actual celebrity to understand the story, since just saying "he had celebrities as patients" doesn't carry the same impact. But perhaps it was not absolutely necessary.
