The notion that some things are not worthy of estimation is odd. How does that work?
Stick to the point null unless the data provide evidence against it

That sounds like a distortion of a simple heuristic for minimizing unhelpful complexity (Occam's razor) into a philosophy (nullism). It can be justified if all stakeholder utilities favor false negatives over false positives; that's not the case in my apps even if it is in yours.
