    Holy moly... "the CO2 emissions from a single 60-minute fMRI scan at 3 Tesla may be as much as half a tonne". OPMs really are the future.

    Neuroscientists have a role to play in tackling the climate emergency. In this preprint, we suggest some actions that everyone in the Neuroscience community can take to reduce emissions.

    I'm totally with you. We should just tell people to stop worrying and use Gradient-Boosted Decision Trees. With enough data, they just work. Almost not kidding

    Interesting finding - nice work Lena!

    Disorganized speech in acute relates to less frequent use of words that link a cause with an effect (e.g. because) & more frequent use of words that help put events in order (e.g. then, after). Automated speech analysis in throws new insights. in press..

    This is MASSIVELY under-appreciated, especially gene-enviroment correlation. I worry about it a lot wrt psychiatric GWAS - these risk genes with tiny effects could easily be predisposing to risky environments, certainly not necessarily mediated through direct biochemical pathways

    Observed genetic associations with social science measures are not necessarily causal *or* universal. To argue that they are relies on (at least) 3 assumptions: random mating, lack of gene-environment correlation, and lack of gene-environment interaction 1/

    Meta-analysis (N=1,008) revealed poor overall reliability (mean ICC=.397). Test-retest reliability of activity in a priori ROIs in 11 common fMRI tasks collected in the Human Connectome Project (N=45) and the Dunedin Study (N=20) were poor (ICCs=.07-.49).

    On November 14th 2019, 1200+ neuroscientists petitioned the Society for Neuroscience leadership to address the and our community’s role in responding. We are still looking waiting for a promised response and plan of action from SfN.

    More very nice work linking schizophrenia risk to unstable cortical attractor states. It will be v interesting to see if these findings in sensory cortex generalise to association cortex too...

    Our paper is officially accepted and in press!!! We find altered sensory cortical ensembles in mice with mutations in setd1a, a rare risk genotype with high penetrance for schizophrenia.
