In my life, when friends & acquaintances are doing introductions over dinner, we usually use first names or nicknames, and this holds even when I'm getting dinner with PhDs or MDs or both. It works out this way because I usually avoid getting dinner with pretentious assholes.

Yeah I'm not sure what kind of Victorian era dinner parties Ben is going to but if I say "Hi I'm Micah" and the other person says "Hi I'm Dr. Smith" I'm pulling my hand back*. *pre-covid
