Public Figure: "I have nothing but respect for trans people but trans activists are too hostile & enabling sexual predators & coming for our children." Trans Mob: "This is obviously transphobic." Reasonable Cis: "How can you say that? It says 'nothing but respect' right there!"
Reasonable Cis: "Attacking every trans person who advocates for trans civil rights isn't transphobic because that's not all trans people. This is about criticizing people for their actions, not for who they are. You have nothing to worry about."

It's like when people say, "With all due respect...," then go off to say something really disrespectful.

Also notice how we’re all actually that exception, not a trans *person* but a trans *activist*, just for having an opinion about their plans to ban us from public spaces etc
