I've always thought of the Apollo program as having been hideously expensive. It cost $25.3 B (1973) which is equivalent to $146.5 B today http://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1973?amount=25.40 … … ~= Google's revenue in 2018, or 1/6 Apple's market cap today. Apple now has $243.7 billion *in cash* >>1 Apollo!

I’m always baffled by this. Isn’t there a bit of a Ship of Theseus thing happening? Like today’s 747s have substantially different major parts. They’re not faster but have higher ranger / better fuel efficiency.

Tbc baffled at the same thing you are.

A serious fluke in the trajectory of human history, which is otherwise progressive.

It only cost a few hundred for the props and lights to fake the landing video, much better return to investment. ;-ppic.twitter.com/0heGV0VIUG
