I've got some news to share this morning on a critical national security issue. There's lots of noise out there & I hope you'll read this thread. Because if we don't we risk losing our competitive edge.

Seems like a good day to publish a blog post called Digital is Not Always Better Than Paper, but it's not (really) about the Iowa caucus debacle. It's about the book I'm writing, and it asks for your help.

See also: civic tech solutions developed by companies looking for a problem to solve, rather than solving one that actually exists (i mean, really WAS ANYONE ASKING FOR A *MOBILE APP* TO COUNT PRECINCT VOTES?)

(cont.) - identifying the wrong problem to solve - choosing the wrong solution to the right problem - assuming everyone has the same experience - assuming everyone has the same access - morally indefensible assumptions - thinking new good tech is cheap or free

It's so easy to blame "tech" instead of - poor design - no user experience - lack of technologists who actually know tech - process failures - procurement & contracting - thinking tech is easy

Best place to ask for this data is probably John Hopkins since they're developing a massive database. See:

Can anyone point me to data about the demographic (age, medical conditions, etc) for victims of ? I don’t see any comparisons on those dimensions with the flu or similar outbreaks

This is legit, an awesome demonstration of science, allowing you to weigh oxygen. Here, they have added 1.76 grams of O2 with a simple, yet elegant experiment.

Ironically, in prison they will be forced to cover the chemotherapy costs for the young woman. In some places, inmates are being released just to avoid paying their medical bills—and then rearrested when they have recovered.

This is ridiculous and obviously an example of data science not working at a level of quality required to enable the product. Also, the product is wrong. As an employer, who cares if someone likes a tweet with "bad language"?
