Consider. A police officer does something. There is a good chance of lawsuit or even a trial for excessive force. You don't think of a citizen tries to perform an arrest they won't be sued? In this environment where the criminal seems to have more rights than the police?

And heaven forbid if it's a white man doing a citizens arrest on a black man. His life would be ruined. Probably lose his job, sued for physical damages and emotional trauma, and labeled as racist across the country. Even his kids could be harassed for it.

No. I'm just paranoid. Ofc, if it helps, I do work in security and have been warned in training about citizen arrests and liability.
