(1/2) Firstly, Hero’s RNG with all reading disabilities and language barriers aside make the game partially out of both players’ hands. One can top deck a kaboom across the stage and put the game in the Hero player’s favor without having to do any decision making.

(2/2) Additionally, Thwack as a move is incredibly toxic, as there is no reason to not use the move since it has little to no lag and encompasses an incredibly wide and tall range (below ledge as well) and takes stocks without the chancd to DI. In doubles this move worsens.

(1/2) Now onto the entire Reading aspect of Hero. Those who speak another language are immediately at a disadvantage if they have to come up with a way to recognize spells without learning the language, and even if they are able to speak English, it is much harder to recognize...

(2/2) At a single glance. (1/2) Additionally people with reading disabilities such as dyslexia have trouble reading spells and looking for a letter at the beginning of the word sometimes is also difficult for them. As a community it’s incredibly disappointing to know people....

(2/2) who have reading disabilities are not accommodated for. We have accommodations in place for colorblind players as well as those who wish for a more quiet environment. Smash isn’t a right of course, it’s a privilege but it shouldn’t be taken from merely by being unable to

read English. BU has a Ruleset more accommodating to a wider audience, so why would the community try and put down BU when they’ve dared to make a better ruleset? Until other venues have an answer for how Hero can be fair to non-english speakers and people with dyslexia, ban him.

I don't think it's fair to say that BU being ineligible for PR is "putting them down" - I'm no longer involved with PRs, but on an objective level, I absolutely feel it's necessary to disqualify an event that isn't operating at the same baseline as all other events in the region.
-
What is "baseline" is definitely subjective, but the reality is that results at your event are more likely to be skewed since you alienate an entire character. Regardless of BU feeling that is has a "better" ruleset (again, subjective), I don't feel you can blame the panels here

But like, is not getting cheesed really worth more than PR? It would suck if someone had their break out tournament on Sunday and barely didn't make PR because this doesn't count.

Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and, unfortunately, BU as a whole voted for a decision that prevents our events from being PRed. Whether that's an issue with the PR requirements or the ruleset is not my place to say. My personal goal is to be as inclusive as possible
