Occasional reminder that if you want to learn more about the U.S. territories/colonies, I wrote a book about them, with on-the-ground reporting from each one (31,000 miles of travel!).

Editor's note: This is the first of a three-part report on GovGuam's legal battle – all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court – to get the federal government to pay for the cost of closing the Ordot dump.

When I asked the National Congress of American Indians' prez for comment on Santorum, I did not expect so much fire. Wow. Full statement below. "Make your choice. Do you stand with White Supremacists justifying Native American genocide, or do you stand with Native Americans?"

A reminder that Native Americans exist the other 364 days of the year and not just on those when a political/TV figure like Rick Santorum says something racist. And we even have a diversity of opinions on issues that have nothing to do with Native Americans at all!

Has anyone checked to see if there's a correlation between UFO sightings and the spontaneous appearance of previously unknown towels in linen closets

Accurate. Ours has a toucan sitting in a tree. It just materialized one day, origin unknown.

The Navajo Nation has vaccinated more than half of its adult population against COVID-19 — outpacing the U.S. national rate. As of Friday, about 87.8% of the eligible population had gotten at least one dose.

Anyway, occasional reminder that DC and Puerto Rico are not the only areas of the USA lacking equal political voice; there's a whole system of colonialism that also includes the US Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa

True but also: *all five* U.S. territories/colonies should have real congressional representation. 🇵🇷🇻🇮🇬🇺🇲🇵🇦🇸 Some are quite small but (1) So?? (2) Even the smallest is a LOT closer in size to Wyoming than Wyoming is to California

Before the rise of modern razors, throwing sharp blades into trash bags was a non-starter. So people started building slots into bathroom walls and cabinets. Used blades conveniently vanished into voids (at least until found by future home renovators). 😬

Here’s a monster Google Doc with a ton of places and people in India you can donate (internationally!) to. I’ve sent some money to a few organizations and individuals myself; if you’re at all in a position to match me, I would be so grateful:
