Almost pulled off a perfect reball, but 3 pads pulled off while removing the stencil. Now to tear apart another A1181 MacBook for a CPU...pic.twitter.com/NMPA93ZJXD

@LIGHTBULBFUN Any recommendations? Should I apply flux before placing the balls, will that keep them from sticking to the stencil?
I could send you two motherboards one day if it would be useful. A Late 2006 and a Mid 2007. I believe that’s what they are
Are they MacBook or MacBook Pro boards?
couple recommendations yeah, I will lightly coat the CPU in flux before reballing, with the stencil thats always a PITA to remove (1)
while i have personally not tried yet I think heating up the CPU gently may help with removing the stencil (like to 150c or so) (2)
basically hot enough to cause the flux residue to "activate" again but not enough to melt the solder balls of course (3)
BTW its worth checking the pinout on that chip the Pads your ripped off might not be critical pads :)
