I just downloaded the patcher today, and it gets stuck in the Apple logo too. 
It's a MacBook white late 2009.
Finally managed to rectify the issues present in 10.15.4 with Catalina Patcher. Patcher version 1.3.5 has just been released, which has full support for 10.15.4. http://dosdude1.com/catalina

Did you use version 1.3.5? All issues have been fixed in that version.

I have installed 10.15.3. Do I need to download the patcher and reinstall the whole system to update to 10.15.4. It seems that the Mac OS does not release automatically.

Correct. You do not need to erase your hard disk though, just install overtop 10.15.3 to retain all your data.
