@dosdude1 Mind a High Sierra Patcher question? MBP 17" 2009 using latest build, no brightness control (buttons work but light doesn't match meter) and can't wake display from sleep. Heard of these? Didn't see listed as a known issue. Thanks for your help!

I got that far thank you but now the MacBook is stuck on the loading screen 8/10ths of the way. Thank you for you help though
You may need to boot off your USB drive and re-install the system again. As long as you don't erase the drive with Disk Utility, you won't loose any data. Make sure to apply post-install patches afterwards.
