      @dosdude1 Does v4.2.7 of the Sierra Patcher tool work with v10.12.6 of the "Install macOS Sierra. app"? The USB drive created by the tool doesn't show as bootable.

      Yes, it does. Make sure the drive is formatted correctly, and try plugging the USB drive in AFTER getting to the boot menu.

      Tried a much faster USB drive and getting the same results, fan runs high, progress bar with Apple logo hits 100% and then just hangs for hours. Have to hard reset. This is on a mid-2009, MacBookPro5,3. Any suggestions?

      Odd.. Maybe just try installing High Sierra with High Sierra Patcher... You may have more luck then.
