It's Digby 86! I spent So. Many. Hours. with the microfilm and the b/w facsimile of this amazing manuscript. And now it's digitized, including my favorite horned bagpiper dude on the verso of the late 14th-c folio inserted in it. So exciting!https://twitter.com/BDLSS/status/991634278097317888 …

      Marjorie Harrington added,

Last month we added MS. Digby 86 to Digital.Bodleian, a hugely important miscellany of medieval texts. As well as several unique pieces of Middle English literature, and numerous non-literary works, it contains at least one Important Doodle. https://digital.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/inquire/p/2d6dfc9f-2ab9-46bf-9b32-e52f0e6eabb3 … pic.twitter.com/aMzf1Q22QW

Early Middle English folks, have you all seen this? @cmthomas @dorothyk98 @AdrienneBoyarin @jdsargan @Stylisticienne etc etc

I think I am only an Honorary eME person! Can't quite believe that they put it up just _after_ we all laboured over the facsimile...are you happy with your finished piece?

I just live in hope of luring you away from the fifteenth century! :P I don't know, maybe? I'm looking forward to seeing what the peer reviewer says about it. You?

I am copyedited and done (I think?) and thus super-pleased to have passed muster. It has definitely helped the bits of my book covering pre-1350 things.

Nice! I answered Susanna's queries and made a few tweaks, but I thought there was still peer review to come, no?

That thought just dawned on me as I re-read your tweet. I don't know? You may know more than I do. The more the better, of course.

I'll double check to make sure when I see her next week... either way, I'm sure Susanna has it all under control. The only thing making me wonder if it was somehow already sent out is the paragraph describing my chapter at the top of the queries - did you get something like that?

Yes. I confess I was mostly thinking Will Susanna Like It (she's one of my absolute heroes) and not much beyond that!

I knoooow. If she likes something it's basically guaranteed to be amazing. (It's probably good she's not on twitter - I spend an embarrassing amount of time gushing about her.)

I'm pretty sure there will be fistfights about who gets to contribute to her festschrift when someone gets around to organizing one, tbh

Anyone who can entice me into the thirteenth century must have some kind of super power...😉

Though of course I have now fallen in love with it and want to explore more AN poetics, especially.
