#Classics #medievaltwitter Having a "white feminist" say that #StanfordSausageFest was OK b/c her white male colleagues spoke @ gender & diversity & knew nothing (so white male innocent) just leaves you w/ "white" academic (not even feminist) #SolidarityisforWhiteMen apparently.https://twitter.com/wmarybeard/status/974975128713953280 …

Do read my thread (tweets and replies) again. I was decrying whole thing, though trying to address structural problems not attack individuals. i've been guilty of not querying line ups, because i assumed diversity. Maybe we should all be humble about human frailty & inattention

I have read the entire thread and also the replies. I also read a number of the tweets from several of these "colleagues" you are defending some that have been erased and it's pretty clear they do not wish to take any accountability.pic.twitter.com/QYXl7NEo0y

This is not a new academic issue. It's been discussed for several years that male white academics should ask about the inclusivity of their panels etc. Deb Verhoeven gave this at the plenary in Australia in 2015:https://speakola.com/ideas/deb-verhoeven-has-anyone-seen-a-woman-2015 …
