I was thinking about that instance too. I don't think anyone here is saying scholarship is neutral or separable from the person who produced it. The question is, knowing its situatedness, can we find any usefulness in it?

It will depend on the situatedness. As for that particular example, nope. The scholarship of 20ish years pretty much shows ideology as analysis and thus most of it is not useful. Geary never said in class we should not use the MGH, we should know the situation and be aware.
