I have submitted my thesis as of March 31st, which was an extended deadline that I was given as a result of the pandemic. I had curtailed access to the library and my postgrad office where I normally worked.

My supervisors have been incredibly supportive and helpful at this time, and not once have they ever monitored my social media presence or commented on it. They are professionals and I do not expect them to be gossiping about their PhDs with other academics.

However, even if it were the case, comments of this nature are so incredibly unprofessional, especially from a senior academic in my field. This is also not the first time he has attacked grad students.

I have had a very hard time during this pandemic between fearing getting COVID and worrying about my family, especially my parents. My mother works in supply chain and thus is an essential worker and my father has a heart condition for which he is having surgery soon.

It is frustrating then to be attacked for my activity on Twitter by a senior academic who is also very active on Twitter, as if it is okay to say or do whatever you want as long as you have tenure at a university.

Do not worry. Do you need anything? Extra eyes on thesis or any other written work. Treats? Funny cat videos?
