I'm cool chairing a panel at a conf. - easy as ABC. But doing it at a conference with very specific instructions - in a proprietary virtual platform - where I'm also presenting and having to keep time & manage all these rules? #Stressful! I want to chill out tonight but...

...I'm going through all the things I've been told to say to do a script, and trying to see if I understand what I'm supposed to do with uploading files and displaying flyers on the platform.

Ok, I think I need to: 1. keep the help doc open so I know who to call if we have glitches (not like sending someone down the hallway to find Julio
@HaitianStudies
)
2. Start auto-captioning
3. Hit record - but not b4 giving the spiel about it1 reply 0 retweets 4 likesShow this thread -
4. I wrote bios for the presenters, since only 1 of the 3 sent me a bio. I wrote one for myself
.
5. I have to figure out how to focus on my slides and my script while not being able to see someone else give me time cards. Hopefully I don't speak slowly & go long.1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
6. I still have to decide whether we're keeping chat open (against rules, but what some ppl push for
#onhere) during papers. I think it will be distracting to the grad student presenter if the peanut gallery is talking while she's presenting.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
7. LOL, I need to find time to put my laundry away tonight. The drying rack sits behind me in my office and will be on my zoom screen otherwise. 8. I think I am not doing any of the fancy stuff they suggest about uploading files/summaries/copies of the chat to the conf. platform

...If people show up to our panel, they can hear our papers. Otherwise they can watch the recording. We don't need to give them copies of the chat or our presentations. The instructions to chairs are *4 PAGES LONG*. It would be less
if I wasn't also presenting.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -

This whole thing is so mind boggling. Also our panel was moved to tomorrow at 5 pm.

Yay!!!! 5 pm CST, 3 pm my time. What is your panel number called? Seriously, Dorothy, I've been working so long trying to organize all of this & do it "right." I don't want to walk into this society & be disrespectful, but it's overwhelming following all of this.

(UGH, there are 2 other sessions I said I'd go to then. I'm going to have to watch recordings and/or move around! It's a great time slot, but also when the other panel on race & games is, plus another on a director I like. Still better for you not to have to present at 6/4 am!!)
