I am pretty sure any kind of “faux” or real “Viking” costume is now 1st analyzed as white supremacist imagery before anything else. Considering the revolutionary and civil war historical and visual references, the costumes are going to be received with a lot of worry if not fear.

Not necessarily, no. Most medieval costume historians can spot a problematic "viking" from 100 yards. They're mired in what the History Channel referred to as their costume. We're more concerned with Crusaders right now.
