ppl, academic freedom includes the freedom to say offensive stuff w/o disciplinary action. You don't like what some faculty member has to say, don't take their courses. When a professor speaks they speak for themselves not the University

Wrong. I really wish ppl would get their definitions and info. Right. Free speech in the US is one thing with legal framework. Ohio vs. Brandenburg. Academic freedom is a rigor and quality call. Do astronomy departments allow faculty to teach that the moon is made of cheese?

This has no evidence and is a conspiracy theory fantasy. So no, we should not allow faculty to say conspiracy theory and fantasies that have no basis in evidence and analysis. So this has nothing to do with academic freedom. Faculty member can say the moon is made of cheese but

Ppl can protest him saying that. However if he threatens violence to these protestors (as this faculty member did) there is no free speech protection as discussed in Ohio vs. Brandenburg 1969. So argue w/ the Supreme Court.
