This is why I stepped down from the board of one of my academic orgs a week and a half after George Floyd’s murder. (So many of our orgs across fields are lacking.)

Last year I had the big European medieval conference email me, only after they got shamed on here, to kind of apologize (more a but we can’t really do anything), @ not taking my security emails to them seriously (they ignored me) when Milo spies taped my talk about the alt-right.

They sent me an email a year later after round 2 of Milo wtf. Their email was basically a please do all the labor to fix our violent racism. This is a conference where in 2017 they screamed at other BIPOC scholars b/c we told them their theme “others” was racist af. So nope.
