#MedievalTwitter Oops, spelling mistake. Medieval 14th-century London scholars, where is the Southwark Subsidy Roll (1480-1481). Where is this roll? What repository holds it?
Well, this may mean the librarians we emailed were just not really helpful when we asked.

Odd! I have looked at the 14thC return for Southwark. All my notes/copied locked in my office but if you go to the national archive catalogue, the E 179 database lists all their taxation records.

It's just fascinating when we can't get the Medieval Southwark book (b/c ILL is really really slow) & everyone else in the secondary refers and quotes the Southwark Subsidy Roll (1380-1381) but no shelf mark. But let's see if the PRO/NA will be more helpful this time around.
