#medievaltwitter an incredible thread up and down by @elysabethgrace on denial, erasure & burdens of Black scholars in the field. This particular point abt stepping aside & silencing your wyte voices is imperative but something many are unwilling to do. That is an excellent question and one which I’m trying to bring into my research. It’s difficult, as Mexica history does not have the same ‘tribal’ continuities, and my project ends c1600, which seems to be earlier than most Indigenous community histories. But you have to try.

Didn’t anthro have a bunch of discussions about this recently especially after the anthro journal hot mess that happened. Also I believe the Black archaeologists have discussed this in regards to ethical method (what to do if you cannot find direct descendants).
