I waited 9 weeks into #StayAtHome orders in CA to rewatch #Contagion, and here are my utterly banal observations that you’ve all already processed:

1. I derive tremendous satisfaction from the fact that Gwyneth is patient zero & that she spread it through all sorts of casino shenanigans & extramarital layover sex in Chicago

2. The first 60 minutes of this movie are pretty damn accurate. The virus in the movie seems more instantly lethal, but the R (effective transmission number) is almost the same (3.5). The Rona’s R is actually a little worse.

3. The film is supposed to show us how utterly unprepared the U.S. was/ is for a novel virus outbreak, but all it did was make me feel JEALOUS that the people in the movie had a more functional government & pandemic response team than ours.

4. Contagion is racist AF. In addition to all the obvious stuff (the source and location of the outbreak) Marion Cotillard, the WHO investigator, is KIDNAPPED and held hostage in a Chinese village by her investigative partner (a Chinese guy).
