Just to confirm, are we still limited to about 200 images?

1/ The 2.0 image serving is improved to 1.0, so a 2.0 project can handle many more images, depending on how they are being served. If they are local uploads, you'd be technically limited only by available memory allocated to serving ☛ ☛ ☛

Hmmm. I checked on this last summer, but I will send you an email to confirm that you can handle beyond 200+ images.

Yup. I am still trying to figure out platform(s) for the next chunk of time. It's surprisingly difficult for the things and there is no point in migrating until it can work for at least 5 years w/out major 1. migration to something new or 2. massive upgrades etc.

So far, I have about 50+ MSS that can be IIIF into the collection b/c of various digitization projects. Yes to not spending oodles of money on digitization, but I can't get one of the first 2 MSS on DM b/c they are over 200+ images each.

Hmm, that's definitely tricky. Would a local DM instance off the cloud server increase the capacity, or is DM not equipped for large scale projects? bc it worries me if open source & open access can't scale for larger comprehensive projects

at any rate, I will forever be interested in AEME happenings and possibilities to contribute since working on it (even in a small way) is what sent me toward DH and digital editions!

It is surprisingly complicated to find a platform w/ the parameters & flexibility. I have also been thinking of a Scalar build out as another way.

Oh interesting! Can Scalar can incorporate IIIF for MSS images or would that require work to integrate a custom API?

They can customize and expand, as I have seen them do w/ 3-D editions (it's quite fab. they do scholarly editions of 3-d sites). They have the multimedia capacity. So it was something I have been considering.

I'll be interested to hear/see if and how it works, should you choose to go that route!!

I think
@TheRclm might keep a Wordpress backend without MSS images to start but ideally we're hoping to have some of the images up so it's good to know what platforms can scale. We were talking about DM2.0 as an option last summer but maybe not if it's not scaling up?0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
