8/ Other features: the first page of the Old English version is a palimpsest, but the erased text can be "read" with the rollover annotations. Who erased it? Probably Archbishop Matthew Parker, whose autograph in red occurs at the top of the page. https://sims2.digitalmappa.org/2 pic.twitter.com/egyX1WzggI

9/ Some annotations detail material histories, like this transcription of a 1954 pencil gloss about use of an "ultra violet ray". Another annotation provides a mini-edition of the fragment of the unidentified Old English text that begins this page. https://sims2.digitalmappa.org/2 pic.twitter.com/PnTb6pbiUJ

10/ There's a detailed introduction to the text's background (Amalarius's exegesis of church bells), as well as its shrinking through successive redactions. A color-coded transcript tracks this transformation from source to the final English version https://sims2.digitalmappa.org/2 pic.twitter.com/dSe4zMpR2l

11/ Each manuscript has a brief overview of its history, content and its paleographic features (check out the link gallery of the Latin scribe's distinctive g's) - and there's even a seventeenth-century gloss by Bishop Ussher. https://sims2.digitalmappa.org/2 pic.twitter.com/i2ypndhpij

12/ That's it for now - hope you enjoyed it - for more on the DM 2.0 platform, see http://digitalmappa.org . But we're just getting started - tune in next Wednesday for the release of @lisafdavis's amazing Digital Chronique edition of a 50-foot medieval scroll of world history!pic.twitter.com/kFN0wOnpKd

13/ One last thing - big shoutouts to @ParkerLibCCCC & @britishlibrary/@BLMedieval for making digital images of these manuscripts freely available in the first place. http://Digitalmappa.org 's mission is to provide tools to now do more things digitally w/ such awesome resources!

Just to confirm, are we still limited to about 200 images?

1/ The 2.0 image serving is improved to 1.0, so a 2.0 project can handle many more images, depending on how they are being served. If they are local uploads, you'd be technically limited only by available memory allocated to serving ☛ ☛ ☛

Hmmm. I checked on this last summer, but I will send you an email to confirm that you can handle beyond 200+ images.

Yup. I am still trying to figure out platform(s) for the next chunk of time. It's surprisingly difficult for the things and there is no point in migrating until it can work for at least 5 years w/out major 1. migration to something new or 2. massive upgrades etc.

So far, I have about 50+ MSS that can be IIIF into the collection b/c of various digitization projects. Yes to not spending oodles of money on digitization, but I can't get one of the first 2 MSS on DM b/c they are over 200+ images each.

Hmm, that's definitely tricky. Would a local DM instance off the cloud server increase the capacity, or is DM not equipped for large scale projects? bc it worries me if open source & open access can't scale for larger comprehensive projects
