people interested in history of contemporary feminism should read this thread. I was involved in many episodes it discusses (gawd I feel old). while I promised myself not to get involved in any more of these ahistorical feminist "reviews" I can 100% confirm everything herehttps://twitter.com/RustBeltRebel/status/1203801162153115650 …

I've long said that this feminism served as founding ground for the rise of the right. Years passed and I'm still bitter that a well known editor in chief of a well read site (at the time, now disappeared) interviewed me and then edited out the most critical parts of my responses

I didn't say much at the time because I wasn't in a position of alienating even more people than I already had. At the time I couldn't even make ends meet so fighting back wasn't an option. But by gawd if I don't remember how this editor "protected" the people I critiqued

people forget *why*
@Karnythia started#Solidarityisforwhitewomen but it was precisely because of the issues discussed in this thread. in a sense, this feminist media consumed itself. Like@RustBeltRebel says, the blatant refusal to include certain topics as part of feminism1 reply 9 retweets 40 likesShow this thread -
I was writing about post Breivik rise of the right in Europe already (this was 2012/13/14) and I lost track of how many times I was told this wasn't a "feminist concern". Because feminist media defined as such was interested in self referential stuff that eventually went nowhere

good gawd "feminist media" was hugo schwyzer writing at jezebel about how to give better blow jobs to "inprove" men's self esteem! good gawd. In the meantime, the right organized and activated what we now have to endure

when in that interview I spoke of my utter contempt of any editor that allowed the publication of "jizz in your face" articles as inherently "feminist" those parts were edited out. I assume because certain sensibilities had to be protected.

RustBelt Rebel @RustBeltRebeland the funny hilarious thing that took hugo down? it wasn't white women admitting that they refused to listen to women of color bcz they wanted to get a Career. it was hugo finally admitting all the women of color were right and white women being so embarrassed-Show this thread1 reply 2 retweets 17 likesShow this thread
Hugo was a medieval PhD. So many things to unpack.
