Language uses such as extreme, slacktivst, outrage culture , misplaced anger, etc is in itself inflammatory. Not saying they cannot use it. Just saying the rest of us can disagree and voice that disagreement.

I agree with you completely. And I support 100% your right to voice that disagreement, Emily. I thought that your comments at the panel were great. My only point in all of this has been that I'm glad the panel occurred, and I hope it leads to more dialogue, not less.

And, again, I wish that the makeup of the panel had been different. I certainly hope that the makeup of future panels is different.

But have you spoken to THEM about this,
@profwmsmith? You've come to various scholars on "this side" repeatedly to push back on narratives and urge compassion for these scholars, but are you doing that work with them as well?4 replies 1 retweet 22 likes -

First, I talked to Dan Franke after the session. I told him that I found the discussion productive but that I wished the panel had been composed of more diverse voices. 2/

Last night, as
@ISASaxonists has mentioned, I commented on a tweet of his, expressing my desire that both sides engage in real dialogue and criticizing his characterization of this debate as “endless war.”2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

What endless war are you talking about? He and I barely interact and for the most part he was just taking screenshots of me to mock me. I called him out, he made some outlandish claims and has muted me. It's not complicated.

That was his phrase, not mine. And I was criticizing him for using that phrase.

The one who spent 2 years spewing far right conspiracy about me particularly about how I have never got a violent or rape threat. The one upholding rape culture. And you want to believe in his "good faith" and "white goodness."
