So Alistair Pennycook wrote English and the Discourses of Colonialism. Total white cis dude. He does a good job b/c he writes an entire thing about his situatedness in the intro. And why it is not his lane to do certain work. It is a good model. He addresses his whiteness+gender.
He doesn’t say it but it is the BIWOC model of autoethnography. It is a BIWOC praxis of self reflection and transparency. I am suspicious of white scholars who do not do this.
