And I did take out a lot of trash. My stuff had smoke damage and some things that were damaged had already been replaced, so I took all of my pillows and bedding, and a lot of trash, down the stairs and out of the building.

But here's the deal.. this last year of my life? I've been horrifically depressed. It got worse, too, because my body stopped processing my anti depressant and I had to quit it suddenly. No taper. That was in July.

So I had a huge mess. I'm ashamed of it on some levels. But I did make an effort to clean out the apartment. This week, though, with days to the deadline (today), I had to focus on my belongings.

Anyway, I tried to hire movers only to learn that every mover was going to require me to hire five movers and would cost over $2000 to move because we were told the elevator put us at risk of asbestos poisoning (company line at this point). But then, Wednesday, it was working.

But this week, I became very sick. Pretty sure I got bronchitis from a patient. Pair that with my asthma and I had to focus on belongings, although I still took out quite a bit of stuff that had to be thrown out. I had to change the move date until today.

But we did have the elevator. The move came out to $1900 (that includes a tip for the movers). I probably should have gone back and gotten a couple of odds and ends but I was so exhausted and my cough was getting SO bad.

The movers put my bed together and I had it made as soon as they left. I slept 5 hours and finally woke up without the horrible back pain that has been the sign of sleeping on a (donated) Casper mattress and sleeping on the floor. After that big nap, I feel so much better.

This has been a very demoralizing time in my life. Having people seeing the mess being depressed had caused, being told I'd lost everything, and spending money to replace (at least I'd only replaced clothing at this point) things only to learn that I'd desperately need it.

Folks from Twitter and Facebook and the Cap Hill neighborhood really did help. But the people who were supposed to be there,
#Redpeak and my insurance company (we'll deal with them later) were not. It's been hell.1 reply 1 retweet 3 likesShow this thread -
So don't lease with
#RedPeak. They won't fix anything when things are going well, but they TRULY suck in an emergency.1 reply 2 retweets 6 likesShow this thread
Hugs to you. I am so happy you are settled in a better place.
