Just stop. I'm not impressed by this tactic.

By what tactic? Repeating to you what you said? You were critiqued for supporting a racist organization and responded by accusing a WoC of "thuggery" and saying she had built her career on racism accusations. This is not good.

I have been called a racist and a transphobe by multiple people tonight, and you are backing that. It kinda sucks, Chris. How would you feel?

Can we just be clear that white supremacy and structural racism means white folks uphold and benefit regularly. And I think we can admit that if we are cisgendered & heterosexual, that we also benefit & uphold cisgendered & heterosexual structures/privilege.

I think elite folks educated at elite institutions and who are employed by elite institutions also benefit regularly. I have taught a 5/4 load for the past two years Dorothy. Wanna talk about Privilege?

Why are we going into oppression Olympics. The issue again is 1. white supremacy/racism--the structures of which mean white ppl benefit or r complicit in that frequently 2. cisgendered & heterosexual privilege, the structures of which means also benefit/complicit.

I'm not going into the oppression olympics. I want a way forward for this field. I mean, it's not going away, regardless of how this is resolved between you and me. I would prefer we come to an understanding that does not involve you calling me a white supremacist.

As I have said, white people benefit from structural racism & white supremacy. In this way, it's always going to be there. Antiracism discusses constantly working on antiracism. It's not a label, it's labor.

But more to the point, if you want to do labor to make the early field more inclusive & antiracist, LGBTQIA welcoming, better for our disabled colleagues, I would encourage working w/ IONA. At this rate, the ISXX org. will revert to some version of its old name.

Well, please respect that we all take our own paths for our own reasons. I respect you as a published scholar and a crusader for justice. I am also pursuing justice, in the way that seems best to me. For me, that does not mean we have to be enemies. Quite the contrary.

As I was saying in another of the threads, I think IONA is a much better early medieval org to work with on this. They also are hosting the next early medieval conference (ISXX has nothing scheduled for the next 4 years):https://www.ionaassociation.org
