Cool. But have you asked the MOCs who left the org what they think about ‘saving’ the org? Cause if not you’re not an ally.

You have hit exactly on my problem with your tweets, Helen! Let’s not talk “about” what MOC want but rather talk with MOC. I honestly think education and discussion can combat racism, and I hope you come to believe that as well.

Hi Kathryn -- no disrespect meant here, but if you'd been paying attention to the conversation you'd know that literally no MOC have come out saying that they want the organization preserved. No one can speak for all, but the voice of those active in the conversation is clear.

I hear you, but Helen is saying that trying to transform the society is a racist action and has accused my friend of racism. I just can’t see how wanting trying to transform an academic society to be better is racist?

Many people, in particular
@ISASaxonists and@dorothyk98, have discussed how ISXX is firmly entrenched in white supremacy. We can't do the work to reform because its governing structures are elitist & racist, and the board is unwilling to change or challenge that.2 replies 0 retweets 5 likes -

And just because they say it doesn't mean it's unambiguously right. There are more voices than those of the people you mention. It's an issue worthy of respectful, intelligent discussion among pdoe of good will. Blanketly dubbing everyone a racist who disagrees is bullshit.

They had over 2+ years and have done nothing. We tried the respectful, intelligent convo and did a bunch of labor and it went nowhere. So where were you in the last 2.5 years? So why are you wasting our time now? So rather too little too late now. Why are you wasting our time?

Dorothy I’m not wasting your time. You’ve joined this thread on your own. I’m defending a friend against attack... a friend who has spent the last 2.5+ years doing the work of anti-transphobia and anti-homophobia. She wants to take on more work in anti-racism. Why attack her?

In ISXX? If not what exactly is the point here?

The point is, Dorothy, is that you got nothing. You'v built a career out of calling people out, scurrilously, as racist, when that charge is utterly unfounded and a lie, on the wager that no-one will have the courage to call it out. I'm calling it out.

So, have we decided that structural white supremacy means that white people do not uphold or benefit from white supremacy? That in fact, white people are always complicit in racism?
