Medievalist friends and colleagues! I'm looking to freshen up a lecture on medieval gender for a survey course. Can anyone point me in the direction of good primary historical sources from anywhere in Europe that are useful for teaching LGBTIQ medieval history? Thanks!

How about Eleanor/John Rykener? Carolyn Dinshaw has an excellent chapter on Eleanor in Getting Medieval.

Thanks Roberta! My co-author & co-editor for the Guide is Blake Gutt (

Also Eleanor Rykener. Kadin explains why super clearly in his article.
