TBH I am just trying to figure out how to get my students to see that wearing Crusader imagery is not a neutral act. The problem, I think, is I have hammered that such imagery has been coopted by the alt-right, but it is too easy to think this has little to do with their choices.

Thanks for this, it is perfect. Thinking about how an encounter that seems innocuous to the person who is wearing/sporting such imagery can be traumatic to someone else is exactly the point.
