Please be reassured that the Congress is working very hard to be a safe space for all scholars and wants to encourage participation from underrepresented groups. That’s all I can say on this topic.

I highly doubt this since they have done nothing to communicate that they have addressed serious security issues. Saying we welcome diversity does none of the work that shows that is happening. So I really do not see anything to indicate that the conference is safe.

You are of course free to disregard what I’ve said. Or you could take it seriously as confirmation that positive things are happening which you do not see. It’s clear that you’re bitter about your experience (understandable but unfortunate) so perhaps nothing will change that.

This is basically a form of victim-blaming.
@IMC_Leeds has not communicated or shown anything that indicates to me personally or anyone else broadly that they have done anything to address these issues. So where is the evidence?1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -

People have written research about this. It's called when you name a problem, you are the problem.
@SaraNAhmed has written about it in her books & here: https://feministkilljoys.com/2014/02/17/the-problem-of-perception/ …2 replies 3 retweets 18 likes -

Me too
@dorothyk98... have been horrified to see all this unfold on the thread since my initial tweet. Your voice is so important and you are being silenced.1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -

Let's call what
@DollyJorgensen did by calling me "bitter" for what it is. It's outlined here in this piece. This is about 'race illiteracy' and a form of gaslighting and minimizing. And though this report is for UK highered. It holds for Europe.https://bit.ly/30lGSQJ1 reply 0 retweets 6 likes
She is on an organizing committee w/ power. She does not get a pass b/c this is her first year. This is called white racial innocence/white racial benefit. This is how structural racism works. Do I get the benefit of the doubt from her. No. Even though I have evidence.

I am not interested in her intentions, and at the moment considering her racial illiteracy, tone-policing, and minimization, she does not have good intentions. I want to see the effects, and I see nothing, and if she is part of this organization, she is complicit in further harm.
